THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS

December 1, 2025

The special meeting of the Board of Public Works was held on December 1, 2025, at 4:30 pm in the City Council Chambers. Those in attendance were President David Ausmus, Vice President Jeff Roberts, Board Member Chris Nelson, Board Member Ryan Johnson, General Manager Dana Ulmer, Controller Jennifer McLeland and Mayor Tony Petre.

President David Ausmus called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm.

  1. The minutes from the previous regular meeting of the Board of Public Works were reviewed. Board Member Ryan Johnson made a motion, seconded by President David Ausmus, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting from November 10, 2025. The motion carried with four votes for and none against.

Under old business

  1. Approval of 2026 Budget – Controller Jennifer McLeland shared that the only changes made to the budget reviewed in November was the removal of the sewer rate increase and the addition of $5,000 to each water and wastewater legal fees for a bond election. Board Member Chris Nelson made a motion, seconded by President David Ausmus, to approve the 2026 budget with the changes presented of wastewater rates and legal fees for the upcoming bond election and to present the Budget to the City Council for approval. The motion carried with four votes for and none against.

Under new business

3. There was no new business to discuss.

4. Employee Retention & Recruitment – McLeland shared that Kim Ross started today, December 1. MMU is now fully staffed again.

5. Board of Public Works Member Reports – General Manager Dana Ulmer shared that he and Water Plant Supervisor Brent Orbin would be visiting a water plant in Mississippi December 9-11. This plant is fully operating on the pilot technology MMU is utilizing from Purifics at our Water Treatment Plant.

Mrs. McLeland shared that Granuband had not kept up with the payments agreement and penalties would begin being charged again starting December 8.

A motion was made by Vice President Jeff Roberts seconded by Board Member Ryan Johnson, to adjourn the meeting at 4:39 pm, with the next regular board meeting set for January 27, 2026, at 5:00 pm in the City Council Chambers. Motion carried with four votes for and none against.
